LISBON, Maine — The air was let out of tires on 28 school buses in Lisbon early Monday morning, and police are launching an investigation.

Lisbon High School, Lisbon Community School and Sugg Middle School all are closed for the day as a result, according to Lisbon Police Chief David Brooks.

The damaged tires were discovered just after 6 a.m. by the district’s transportation director.

“Letting the air out caused the tires to actually come off those rims so they have to remount the tires on those buses that were impacted,” Brooks said.

Brooks said no other damage to the buses was reported.

Police do not have a suspect description. Anyone with knowledge of the incident should call Lisbon police at 353-2500.
