HOULTON AND SMYRNA – Althea Verna Lloyd, 94, died March 2, 2013, at a local health care facility. She was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Smyrna Mills, daughter of Clyde and Stella (Miller) Brown.
Althea was an active member of Smyrna Methodist Church and Oakfield Senior Citizens. She was a member of Rebekah’s, and was past noble grand and past district deputy. Althea enjoyed bowling on many teams. She worked at the courthouse, Goldies Shop, Chadwicks Florist and was a driver of Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
Althea is survived by her three daughters, Filene McKenney and husband, Harold, of Westbrook, Verna Smith and husband, David, of Aiken, S.C., and Bonnie Ropiak and husband, Robert, of New Britain, Conn.; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Elwood Lloyd; and son, Cecil.
