ST. GEORGE, Maine — St. George voters will likely have no contested races when they go to the polls May 13.
The deadline for candidates to file nomination papers is Friday at the town office.
As of Thursday, only three people had taken out nomination papers for three town seats. Nomination papers have been available since Feb. 19.
Marguerite Cutroni has filed her papers for one open seat on the Select Board. Tammy Willey has filed her papers for a second seat on the board.
Incumbents Linwood Smith and Donald Lunt did not seek re-election. Lunt could not seek a third consecutive term because of town term limits. Smith had informed the Select Board earlier in the month that he was stepping down this month prior to the election.
George Emery, one of the town’s two representatives to the Regional School Unit 13 Board, has taken out papers but had not returned them as of Thursday morning.
The polls will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the town office on Monday, May 13.
The annual town meeting will be held the following evening at 7 at the town office.
