BREWER and BANGOR – Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Kent Pomroy, 79, predeceased by her husband Ronald “Bud” L. Pomroy Sr., died March 27, 2013, at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Clinton the daughter of Edward and Pauline Kent.
Betty lived in Brewer for most of her life. She was a treasurer of Bangor Deaf Club. Betty was a member of Brewer Eagles Club and was awarded “Mother of the Year”. She also lived in Florida for several years, and was a member of St. Pete Deaf Club in which she served as an officer and a trustee. Betty was an extremely creative woman. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, and crocheting. Betty loved playing cards, going to Bingo, fishing down to camp, and most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. Betty loved to laugh and have fun. She was the greatest mom and friend that a son and daughter could ever have.
In addition to her parents; she was predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald of 54 years; and brother, Edward Kent Jr. She is survived by her son, Ronald L. Pomroy Jr. and his wife, Gerry; grandson, Ronald E.L.O Pomroy; granddaughter, Natasha E. Pomroy; daughter, Pollyanna (Pomroy) Smith and her husband, Roger A. Smith Sr.; grandson, Roger A. Smith Jr. and his wife, Annastasia; granddaughter, Nicole E. Smith and her fiancé, Christopher; three special great-grandchildren, Roger A. Smith III, Preston M. Smith and Isabella L. Warford; sister, Evelyn (Kent) Sandy and significant other, Grant; brothers, Frank Kent and significant other, Beverly and Eugene Kent and fiancée, Jen; sister-in-law, Janice Kent; and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett officiating. Spring interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith 55 South Main St., Brewer, after the service.
