ORLAND – Harley Hollis Farren, 93, passed away April 5, 2013, after a brief illness in Royal Palm Beach, Fla. He was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Corea, to the late Hollis and Gladys Farren.
He married Virginia (Saunders) Farren in 1944 and they lived together in Orland before relocating to Florida in 1982. He was employed at St. Regis Paper Mill, Bucksport, for 39 years and retired in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, he was a life time member of order of Eastern Star Riverside Chapter No. 123 and Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, Orland, a honorary member of Ruth Chapter and Masonic Lodge, Fort Pierce, Fla., and a member of Anah Shriners and Knights Templar, Bangor.
Harley is survived by his wife Virginia (Saunders) Farren; four children, Dorothy Wessendorf of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., Jan-Marie Temple and husband, Newell, of Grandview, Texas, Roger Farren of Augusta and James Farren and wife, Annie, of Orland; he is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Harley will now meet up with his parents, Hollis and Gladys Farren; son, David W Farren; sisters, Marada West and Avis West; and brother, Ernest Farren, all of whom predeceased him.
Burial and memorial services will be held later this summer.
