LINCOLN – James “Bud” Oliver McEwen Sr., who was born April 29, 1935, passed away April 7, 2013.
My husband was the dearest friend I could ever ask for. He spent many years working in the woods, always came home tired, but with a smile. He raised five children, three boys, Jim, Scott and Terry. He had two daughters, Melissa and Jennifer. He enjoyed helping the kids make tree houses, doll houses and dune buggies. He loved camping, we went a lot. In the beginning we had a tent and then a tent camper to a camper on a truck, to a big 32 foot camper and each time we would go he would say this is too big now for us, but once to the lake all the kids came and it was not too big. We had two Recon four wheelers and a Rhino. We would eat breakfast, leave on the four wheelers, and explore every road. On the weekends, some of our kids and grandchildren would come camping with us. As time went on, riding a four wheeler was hard on his arms. His favorite camping area was Dobsis Dam in Grand Lake Stream. He lost a daughter-in-law, Betty, and he spoke of her a lot, she was the apple of his eye. He also had a motorcycle that he liked. We went riding with the kids or alone. He then got a taste of the coast of Maine. He would go every weekend if he could. We loved Bar Harbor. We would get lunch and sit in the park and watch the boats. We did a lot of traveling and he loved Prince Edward Island, Cape Bretton, Nova Scotia, and Caraquet, Nova Scotia. We took the Blue Nose over and drove back. We would see some beautiful places. We always made a trip to St. John. Then getting along in years, he had to give up some traveling, never gave up camping.
