NEWPORT – Irma (Spaulding) Knowles, 93, died April 23, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 28, 1919, in Dexter, daughter of Marshall and Hazel (Hewitt) Spaulding Sr.
She was employed at H. C. Baxter Company, Hartland, and Edwards Company, Pittsfield. She then did housekeeping in Florida and along the Maine coast.
She is survived by son, Ramon and wife, Sharon Knowles, of Palmyra; three brothers, Marshall Spaulding of Topsham, Aubrey Spaulding of Bow, N.H., and Harlan Spaulding of Dover-Foxcroft; sister, Charlene Page of Dexter; granddaughter, Sharon Plourde; stepgrandson, Franklin and wife, Kelly Maker; stepgranddaughter, Wendy and husband, Tom Dolly; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Paula Cyr. Irma was predeceased by her husband, Delbert; two sisters, Beverly Gallison and Maxine Cole; and brother, Merle.
Graveside committal services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Pittsfield Village Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
