ASHLAND – Marilyn A. Gardner, 74, died April 29, 2013, at a Presque Isle hospital after a brief illness. She was born July 2, 1938, in Ashland, the daughter of Herman and Shirley (Oakes) Prue.
She was a graduate of Ashland Community High School and attended Aroostook State Normal School. Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper at Prue Oil Company, a family business, and later with her husband and children at B & M Savemore a grocery store in Ashland.
She is survived by son, Willis Gardner II and wife, Julie, of Ashland; daughter, Lisa Gardner and husband, Joaquin Gonzalez, of San Jose, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Vickie Gardner of Ashland; brother, Allen Prue of Nashville Plantation; three sisters, Carolyn Prue Gayton of Brunswick, Donna Prue Monfette and husband, Douglas, of Davenport, Fla., and Sandra Prue LeBlanc and husband, George, of Nashville Plantation; two grandchildren, Peter John Gardner and Robert Matthew Gardner; great-grandson, Joshua John Gardner; and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Willis “Bo” Gardner in 1993; and by son, Peter Gardner in 2001.
Relatives and friends may call 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, at Advent Christian Church, Exchange Street, Ashland, where a funeral service will be held 3 p.m. with the Rev. William Harris, pastor, officiating.
