ORLAND – James R. Maynard Jr., 74, took his final flight Friday, May 3, 2013, surrounded by family as he succumbed to a long illness.
“Diamond Jim” or “Big Jim” is survived by wife, Kathleen; four children, three grandchildren, a sister and extended family.
Jim worked for the U.S. government for 49 years, including 29 years in the U.S. Air Force and 20 years in the Department of Defense.
A celebration of life will be held 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Elks Club Lodge, Enfield, Conn. Being a Vietnam veteran, he requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org or Disabled American Veteran Organization, www.dav.org.
