CARRINGTON, N.D. – Blanche Catherine (Noye) Harrison, wife of the late Reuel Harrison, died peacefully Jan. 13, 2013, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, N.D. She was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Upsalquitch, New Brunswick, daughter of Thomas and Eliza Henrietta Noye.
Blanche graduated from Bangor High School in 1939 and became a citizen of the U.S. as a young woman. She attended Husson College, and during World War II went to work for the war effort at Bath Naval Shipyard. Blanche had a long career for City of Bangor Personnel Department. When she retired, she moved to her birthplace, Upsalquitch, New Brunswick, to the house, which was built by her mother’s stepfather. The house had no modern conveniences, but was soon beautifully brought up to date without losing any of the original style. She worked her own farm as a hobby she loved. Blanche and Reuel met in Maine during World War II, and after life took them in different directions, they reunited and married in 2001.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her son, Timothy Rogers; grandson, Thomas Rogers and wife, Sarah; great-grandson, Jeremy; sister, Vera Byard; brother, Boyd Noye and wife, Carmen; many friends and family in Canada; stepgranddaughters, Kelli Cotton and Kristi Baird, and their husbands; dear friends, Edith Murray and Patty Powers; and many nieces and nephews. Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Reuel; parents; brother, Raymond; and sisters, Viola Hawkins, Asta Blanchard, Olivia Kneale and Norma Graffam.
Friends are invited to say goodbye 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Federated Church, UCC/UMC, 775 Second St., North Carrington, N.D. The service with burial next to her husband will be immediately after at Melville (N.D.) Cemetery. Refreshments will be served at Federated Church after the burial.
