WESTFIELD – Doris Guiggey, 94, beloved mother, nana, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully May 22, 2013. She was born Oct. 10, 1918, in Woodland, to Lemuel R. Ginn and Flora (Hulbert) Ginn.
Doris married Gerald Guig-gey, Oct. 20, 1938, and together they raised their family on Egypt Road, Westfield. In addition to raising three daughters, she held numerous jobs outside the home, including more than 20 years of service at A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital, Presque Isle. After enjoying many years of retirement in the Westfield and Presque Isle area, she moved to Ormond Beach, Fla. Doris was a devout Christian who belonged to Westfield United Baptist Church and Community Baptist Church, Ormond Beach, Fla., where she was active in an assortment of activities. In addition, Doris had been an active member of Mars Hill Senior Citizens. She loved gardening, cooking, playing games, entertaining friends, and reading the Bible. Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends, and finding joy in living. All who knew her, loved Doris. She had an enthusiasm for life and an upbeat personality that drew many people to share that joy.
Doris is survived by daughters, Jacqueline Bond and husband, James, Carole Heitzmann and husband, Wayne, and Linda Worthley and husband, Leonard; brothers, Ken Ginn, and Dr. Robert Ginn and wife, Arwood; eight grandchildren, Jaime Laffins and Brad, James Bond, Jena Tracy and Bruce, Shane Heitzmann and Laura, Holly Wicktom and Troy, Cissy Ladner and Sherm, and Jodi Bisson and Michael; 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous extended family, plus a multitude of close and caring friends. Her parents, husband; sister, Geraldine Matthews; granddaughter, Dawn Moran; and great-granddaughter, Devin Moran, predeceased her. Doris’ life on earth was a testament to all and a wonderful blue print for others to follow. She will live in our hearts forever.
A memorial will be held July 20, at Westfield United Baptist Church, Westfield. Donations may be made in her memory to Westfield United Baptist Church.
