EAGLE LAKE – Richard Soucy, 74, husband of Bertha L. (Saucier) Soucy, died June 5, 2013, at his residence. He was born Nov. 24, 1938, in Eagle Lake, son of Romeo and Cecile (Dube) Soucy.
He served with the U.S. Army. Richard was employed with Pratt and Whitney for 22 years as a group supervisor, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Connecticut Army National Guard for 14 years. He was also a member of Smart-Soucy Post No. 176 American Legion, Eagle Lake, and a member of ATV Trail Blazers Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed brook fishing, hunting and just being in the woods. He was a devoted husband and father to his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Bertha of Eagle Lake, is two sons, Kevin Soucy and fiancée, Vicki, of Mansfield, Conn., and Shawn Soucy of Watertown, Conn.; daughter, Laurie Anderson and husband, Pete, of Scotland, Conn.; three brothers, Norman Soucy, Roger Soucy and Gerald Soucy; two sisters, Joan Drake and Betty Albert; and four grandchildren, Steven, Ryan, Katrina and Jenna.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Interment with full military services will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those who wish may donate in his memory to Northern Maine Medical Center Memorial Fund, care of Claire Moss, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743 or to Eagle Lake Ladies of St. Anne. Envelopes may also be obtained through the funeral home.
