OLD TOWN – Edna P. Cyr, 102, wife of the late Arthur Cyr, died peacefully with family by her side, June 2, 2013, at an Orono health care facility. She was born Nov. 20, 1910, in Ashland, daughter of Fred and Addie (Loubier) Theriault.
Edna attended Husson School of Business and was employed for more than 25 years at Burnham-Phelps Insurance Co., Old Town, and was a member of Insurance Women of Eastern Maine. She was also a member of the Old Town Senior Citizens and Daughters of Isabella where she received an award for more than 70 years of service and served as an RSVP volunteer. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was a member of the choir for many years. She lived her long life with great gusto, sharing her love and laughter with friends and family. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for the people who loved her.
She is survived by two daughters, Pauline Sullivan of Naples, Fla., and Catherine Cyr of Brunswick; son, Arthur Roger Cyr of Bossier City, La.; 18 grandchildren, including Kelly Shorey of Old Town, with whom she shared a special bond; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Cyr; son, Paul Cyr; daughter, Caroline Lodge; two brothers, Herman Theriault and Bernard Theriault; and two sisters, Bessie Moreau and Celeste Marquis.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately after services at the cemetery, all are invited to return to the parish center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
