BANGOR – Lewis H. Gravelle Jr., 66, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility after a lengthy illness. He was born June 29, 1946, in Houlton, son of Lewis H. and Lena (Breau) Gravelle.
Lewis grew up and was educated in Greenville. He served in the Air Force from 1965-1971, including a tour in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Osram Sylvania, Bangor, for 30-plus years. He was passionate about golfing, reading, gardening and New England Sports Teams.
Lewis was predeceased by his parents; and two siblings, Judy and Greg. He is survived by his son, Jared Gravelle of Bangor; daughter, Renee Dana and husband, Michael, of Westbrook; four brothers, Clevis Gravelle of Bangor, Peter Gravelle of Greenville, Tim Gravelle of Shirley Mills and Tom Gravelle of Greenville; four sisters, Jean Johnson of Oakland, Lisa Gravelle Devin of Portland, Terri Gravelle of Belfast and Libby Estes of Windham; along with many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and lifelong friends.
An informal celebration of Lewis’ life will be held 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, at American Legion, Greenville. Donations in his memory may be made in support of the family at the celebration of life gathering. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
