BRADLEY – BRADLEY – Dora (Ouellette) Penney, 84, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully June 12, 2013, after a brief illness at her daughter Paula’s home in Bradley. She was the 10th and last child of George and Whilamene (Paradis) Ouelette of Great Works.
Dora graduated from Old Town High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Roger Penney of Bradley. Dora was a devoted wife and mother, and during their marriage and Roger’s career in the military, saw much of the country and lived in many different states. Roger was a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force at the time of his sudden death in 1971 when Dora returned to Old Town. Basketball was her favorite sport and she was an avid Boston Celtics fan. She also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. She especially liked time spent with her family, playing cards and shopping.
Dora was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her two beloved and treasured children, son, Roger Jr. of Dedham, her special angel, and loving daughter, Paula Wilcox and her husband, Brian; adored granddaughters, Erin DeGrasse and her husband, Brian, and Lauren Britton and her husband, Jeremy; and her precious great-grandson, two year old Charlie DeGrasse, all of Bradley; her dear sister, Kathleen Anderson and brother-in-law, Dean Anderson of Bangor; many loving and devoted nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her three brothers, Arthur, Earl and infant brother, Morris; five sisters, Ruth Spencer, Irene Goodin, Pearl Bergeron, Joyce Hagerman and Mary Moors.
Dora was a devout Catholic who loved and lived her faith every day. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at St. Ann’s Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord in Bradley. Immediately after the service all are invited for a light luncheon and continued conversation. Burial will be private for the family.
