PENOBSCOT – John E. Tetzel, 81, passed away June 17, 2013, at Penobscot Nursing Home. He was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Bronx, N.Y., son of Edward and Catherine (Keelan) Tetzel.
From 1950-1954, John served in the U.S. Navy. John retired from Long Island Rail Road after working for 30 years. John was a former resident of Long Beach, N.Y. John was a member of Masonic Sparten Lodge.
John leaves behind a loving wife of 42 years, Virginia (Gordon) Tetzel; stepsister-in-law, May of Owls Head; stepbrother-in-law, Edward of East Orland; sister, Frances Mauro of Merrick, N.Y.; and various nieces, nephews and cousins, all of Long Island, N.Y. The family thanks the staff of Penobscot Nursing Home for the care of John throughout the past three years.
Family and friends will gather for visitation noon until the time of funeral service 1 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
