GLENBURN – “Jack” R. Long, 73, died June 15, 2013, at Togus VA Medical Center, Augusta. He was born June 28, 1939, in Clair, New Brunswick, son of Claude and Clara (Levasseur) Long.
Jack graduated from Caribou High School in 1958. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Berlin where he became fluent in German, in addition to his first and second languages, French and English. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed time spent hunting and fishing, particularly in northern Maine, and he was proud to have been a registered Maine Guide. Jack was a member of Bangor Elks Lodge No. 244.
Jack was predeceased by his parents and brothers. He is survived by son, Gene Long of Orrington; daughters, Karen Eslin of Portland and Jennifer Long of Falmouth; grandson, Ryan Eslin of Presque Isle; granddaughter, Taylor Long of Orrington; sisters, Jeannine Frechette of Scarborough, Yolande Leonard of Yarmouth, Roberta Kremin of Bangor and Gisele Long of Edmundston, New Brunswick; and many nieces and nephews.
