KENDUSKEAG – Lawrence J. Denning, 70, died peacefully Sunday, June 23, 2013, in Bangor. He was born March 29, 1943, in Orono, the son of the late John and Arlene Denning.
He grew up on Market Street in Bangor and married his wife, Priscilla, Sept. 21, 1974. Lawrence was known throughout the community as Larry the Roofer. He was employed as a working foreman for Bangor Roofing for more than 35 years. He had a hard working ethic and his goal was to be a wonderful provider for his wife and family. Larry was an avid roller skater in his younger days. He enjoyed listening to the police scanner, going out to different restaurants and spending time with his family. He will be lovingly missed and remembered.
Larry is survived by his children, Ann Burns of Bangor, Arlen Burns and wife, Deirdre, of Corinth and Andrew Denning of Kenduskeag; grandchildren, Ashley Burns, Robert Reid Jr., Cassidy Burns and Bryce Burns; his brother, Edward Denning of Bangor; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Priscilla; his parents; his stepfather, Herbert Soper; and his siblings, Margaret, Buddy and Mary.
The family will receive friends 11 a.m. – noon Thursday, June 27, with a funeral service immediately after at noon, at Charleston Pentecostal Church, 185 Main Road, Charleston, with the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. A committal service will be at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth. Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.
