SURRY – Olive Hope Applebee was a miracle, an inspiration and a ray of sunshine with fiery red hair. Olive’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood how much love and happiness could be packed in 2 1/2 years.
Olive loved walking with her family and exploring nature. She loved Mickey Mouse, princesses, reading books, making silly faces, cupcakes and shopping at Target. Her favorite pastimes were laughing, singing and learning American sign language with Mommy, cooking with Mimi, painting with Daddy and throwing rocks with Umpa. She joins the sun, moon and stars to light our way.
Olive leaves behind her parents, Marc and Nicki (Steede) Applebee of Surry; maternal grandparents, Doug and Sylvia Atherton of Surry, Kim and Sue Steede of Blue Springs, Mo.; paternal grandfather, Papa Everett Applebee; maternal great-grandparents, Harry and Aggie Steede; and maternal great-grandmothers, Nana Ellen Carter and Grammie Charlotte Eastman. She joins her great-gramps, Lorado Carter; and Gramma Norma Applebee. Olive will be long remembered and loved by “Team Olive,” including a huge number of beloved family members, friends and devoted professionals, including the miracle workers at Boston Children’s Hospital who made Olive’s amazing life possible.
