HERMON – Patricia W. Douglass, 86, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior July 6, 2013, at her home. Pat was born May 14, 1927, in Levant, daughter of Clifton Wilson and Madeline (Griffin) Wilson Emerson.
Pat was an independent woman who cared deeply for everyone she met. She enjoyed interacting with everyone, strangers and friends alike. For 39 1/2 years, she worked in the hosiery department of the Freese’s department store, where her customer service was known far and wide. She bought a lot from the store, as well as selling and loved bringing home new toys for her younger brother. She truly enjoyed her customers and they loved her service. Pat would be at Dysart’s or McDonald’s and run into her customers, even years after the department store closed. She would always greet them cheerfully, as she would when she was working. Freese’s was her passion.
Pat was predeceased by her father, Clifton Wilson, when she was only 9. She was also predeceased by her infant son, Brian Royce; loving mother, Madeline (Griffin) Wilson Emerson; stepfather, Fred Emerson Sr.; husband of 29 years, Darrell Douglass; brother-in-law, Charles Douglass; sister-in-law, Ada Burke; brother-in-law, Albert Burke; and special sister-in-law, Gail Willey Emerson. She is survived by her brother, Fred Emerson Jr. of Hermon; nephew, Fred Emerson III and wife, Wendy (Overlock) Emerson, of Hermon, and their children, Makayla and Brianna Emerson; brother-in-law, Dale Douglass and wife, Natalie, of Brunswick; sister-in-law, Joan Douglass of Bangor; and several nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to Pat’s good friend, Christine.
