WINTERPORT – Nancy Ruth (Newcomb) Morrill, 84, passed away July 5, 2013, surrounded by her family at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Winterport, daughter of Glenwood and Carolyn (Mingo) Newcomb.
Nancy grew up in Hampden and was a graduate of Hampden Academy. She lived most of her life in Hampden and Winterport. Nancy cooked in restaurants all of her life. She operated Prout’s Dog House, Hampden, with her two daughters and cooked at Bryer’s Restaurant, The Winterport Inn, The Dry Dock, Mike’s Restaurant and retired from Homestead Restaurant, Unity. Nancy will be remembered as a fun and loving mother, grandmother and friend.
Nancy is survived by two daughters, Sharon LaSota, and Barbie Doyon and husband, Roger, all of Winterport; one brother, Ralph “Bud” Newcomb and wife, Avis, of Northport; two grandchildren, Stacy Brown and husband, Fred, and Joey Doyon, all of Winterport; and very special great-grandson, Trey Brown of Winterport. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and the extended Doyon and Brown families. Nancy was predeceased by her parents; and a son-in-law, Stephen LaSota. Nancy’s family gives heartfelt thanks to the staff of Eastside Rehabilitation and Living Center for the care and kindness given to both Nancy and the family.
In keeping with Nancy’s love for cooking and food, and informal gathering and cookout for family and friends will be held noon Saturday, July 13, at the home of Stacy and Fred Brown, 91 Monroe Road, Winterport.
