CORINNA – Sherman Lee Harris, 82, died July 11, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Bridgewater, son of John and Georgia (Nelson) Harris.
Sherm served four years in the National Guard at the Newport Armory, and also served four years with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a truck driver for most of his life, retiring from Dexter Shoe Company in 1990 due to ill health. He loved camping, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing and car auctions. He attended Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter, and had many friends there.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sandra (Robbins) Harris of Corinna; stepson and wife, Donald and Melody Wyman of San Antonio; sister and husband, Rowena and Lewis McLeod of St. Albans; sister-in-law, Geraldine Harris of Palmyra; three grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Jazz. Sherm was predeceased by brother, Ray; and sisters, Edna and Donna.
Graveside committal services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna, with the Rev. Stan Griffin and Mark Arnold officiating.
