BANGOR and ENFIELD, Conn. – Sister Mary Alfreda, C.S.S.F., 96, a member of the Felician Franciscan Sisters, journeyed to her heavenly home July 11, 2013.
Sister Alfreda served in the educational ministry in New England and New York prior to her assignment to St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor, in 1980. Her love of God and people was respected and appreciated by all those who knew her. Among many of her friends and colleagues, she was affectionately known as the “smiling nun.” In September 2003 Sister retired to the Felician Sisters’ Infirmary, Connecticut. In April of this year she celebrated her diamond anniversary as a religious which was the high point of her retirement.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, at Our Lady of Angels Convent, 1315 Enfield St., Enfield, Conn. Donations in her memory may be made to Felician Sisters, Enfield, Conn.
