OLD TOWN – Rita Littlefield Coffey, 77, died July 14, 2013 at Orono Commons Nursing Home in Orono. Rita was the third daughter of Ernest and Mae (Evans) Littlefield, born Oct. 28, 1935, in Old Town.
Rita graduated from Old Town High School, class of 1953. She commenced on her secretarial career starting at the Old Town Credit Union and at various schools while living in Massachusetts. Rita married David Coffey in August of 1972. She resided in Southwest Harbor during her marriage to David and upon his death, in 2008, moved to the Old Town River House, Old Town.
She is survived by two sisters, Marguerite Capen and her husband, Larry, and Carol Klitch and her husband, Roy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, oldest sister, Ernestine Nightingale; niece, Beth Lord and her husband, David Coffey. Many thanks to the staff at Orono Commons for their loving care to Rita during her stay at their facility.
A private family interment will be held in August at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor. Those who wish to remember Rita in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Elizabeth Lord Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Director of Scholarships at Old Town High School, 203 Stillwater Ave., Old Town, ME 04468.
