MATTAWAMKEAG – Edward Arthur “Ed” Stone, passed July 10, 2013, in Lincoln, after a valiant fight with illness. Ed was born June 10, 1945, in Lynn, Mass. His parents were Anastasia Bowley and Arthur Pore and stepfather, Elsworth Stone.
He has three surviving siblings; two sisters, Emma and Donna Stone and a brother, Elsworth, all of Boothbay Harbor. He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Stone; daughters, SonyaDee M. Archibald, Candace R. Stone; son, Edward A. Stone Jr.; and proud grandfather to seven grandchildren. Ed is also survived by his brother-in-law and friend, Larry A. McAlister of East Millinocket; and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a recognized M14 Sharp Shooter. After serving in the Vietnam War, Ed lived in Massachusetts and had his only son, Ed Jr. Ed married Carol A. (McAlister) Stone in Woburn, Mass., in 1975. Soon after getting married, Ed and Carol moved back to their home state and settled in Lee, eventually moving to Lincoln. Ed was retired from his many years of service at Forsters Mill in Mattawamkeag. He was an avid animal lover and volunteered for many years at Penobscot Valley Humane Society. Ed was always willing to lend a hand to a stranger or friend equally. He was always smiling, joking and laughing. He will be missed so very much by all that knew him. Until we meet again Eddie, you are forever in our hearts. May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
