PORTLAND, Maine — Lightning from Thursday evening thunderstorm’s is being blamed for a fire at an industrial building.

City Spokeswoman Nicole Clegg said crews were dispatched to the structure at 320 Warren Ave. shortly before 11 p.m.

The single-story building, which houses a used car dealership, had heavy smoke spewing from the building when first responders arrived.

The fire was contained quickly, but due to the building’s construction style, it isn’t safe to reoccupy, Clegg said. The building sustained an estimated $200,000 in damage.

Nobody was injured in the fire, and the building owner, Castle Rock Investments of Falmouth, is working with its insurance company.
