BANGOR – Nancy W. Harrington, 82, of Stockton Springs, formerly of Concord, N.H., Foley/Orange Beach, Ala., Kennebunk and Augusta, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born May 19, 1931, in Lewiston, daughter of Kenneth Bradford Whittle and Mildred W. (Libby) Whittle.
She grew up in Augusta, where she graduated from Cony High School. She attended the former Westbrook Junior College, now the University of New England. Feb. 11, 1951, she married George J. Harrington Jr. They shared an amazing 62 years together. Nancy worked for Littlefield Insurance Agency, Kennebunk, for 10 years. She was a talented craftsperson, excelling in rug hooking and knitting. She enjoyed knitting healing shawls. Nancy also played Bridge, and was a member of several Bridge clubs in Alabama.
She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Judith Whittle Ellis of Farmingdale. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, George J. Harrington Jr., of Stockton Springs; two daughters, Deborah Patton and husband, Sam, of Ozark, Ala., and Holly Young and husband, Carl, of Stockton Springs; sister, Mrs. Betty Connell and husband, Richard, of Jamesville, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Mr. Bruce Ellis of Farmingdale; three grandchildren, Carson Cistulli and wife, Kali, of Madison, Wis., Samantha Sharff and husband, Aaron, of Brattleboro, Vt., and Victoria Patton of Auburn, Ala.; and a niece and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday, July 24, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, where a funeral service will be afterward at noon, officiated by the Rev. Dan Riggall. Burial will be afterward at Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.
