NEWPORT – Katherine Ruth (O’Reilly) Buzzell, 84, passed away peacefully Friday, July 12, 2013, at her home. She was born May 12, 1929, in Hartland, the 10th of 19 children to Myles and Gertrude Walker O’Reilly.
She was one of the most loving and caring people on this earth, and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. She especially loved children and in her younger years cared for many in her home.
Kay was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Calvin Buzzell, in 1998; as well as her parents and many of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Lowe of Westbrook; grandsons, Jeffrey Cohen and wife, Paula, of Waterboro, and Ryan Lowe of Portland; four great-grandchildren, Jason Cohen, stationed with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, Jacob and Paige Cohen of Waterboro, and Ashlyn Lowe of Portland; great-great-granddaughter, Eisly Cohen of Waterboro; in-laws, Earl and Betty O’Farrell of Newport, Everett and May Purvis of Veazie, David Cook of Pittsfield, Harlan and Rita Braley, and Ellen Lessor, all of Newport; siblings, Janette Childs of Gardner, Agnes of Massachusetts, Mary Malia of Dover and Ray Jean Buzzell of Guilford; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at the Pittsfield cemetery. A date has yet to be determined.
