GUILFORD – Neil A. Turner, 64, died suddenly July 26, 2013, at his home. He was born Dec. 17, 1948, in Greenville, son of Clarence “Tad” and Vivian (Stanchfield) Turner.
He graduated from Monson Academy, class of 1967, and attended Husson College, Bangor. He worked for many years as a log truck driver, first for his father, and later for H.C. Haynes and then for Trott Forest Products. He was a hard worker with a strong work ethic, always ready to help anyone. He was a good provider and enjoyed taking caring of his property, whether it was mowing in the summer or plowing in the winter. He was a caring husband, father, stepfather and grandfather; and always followed his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy King of Guilford; two sons, Matthew Turner of Hudson and James Turner and fiancée, Sherry Crawford, of Stetson; daughter, Allison Butler and husband, Jeffrey, of Atkinson; two stepchildren, Valerie and Ian King both of Guilford; two brothers, Fred Turner and wife, Prudy, of Willimantic and Brian Turner and wife, Cindy, of Monson; and grandchildren, Tad, Nathan, Bailey, Miranda, Jacob, Hiram, Silas and one unborn grandchild that he was hoping to meet. Neil will be sadly missed by his little best friend, Finnegan, his dog.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Burial will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Willimantic.
