WASHURN – Richard A. Howlett Sr., 83, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 8, 2013, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 17, 1929, in Presque Isle, the son of Athill and Ellla (Dennet) Howlett.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed in the Civil Service at Presque Isle and Loring AFB in Limestone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in the North Maine Woods. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his children.
He is survived by his wife, Gilda (Marks) Howlett of Washburn; his children, Richard Howlett Jr. and his wife, Kathi, of Presque Isle, Sandra Crouse and her husband, Roger, of Crouseville, Kerry Kennedy and her husband, Robert, of Tappahannock, Va., and John Howlett and his significant other, Dawn, of Waldoboro; a sister, Ella Stevens of Presque Isle; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his sister, Juanita.
