DEXTER – Johnney Howard Stevens Sr., 83, died Aug. 9, 2013, at his home in Dexter. He was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Newport, son of John and Ellen (Curtis) Stevens.
He worked in the woods for many years and later became a house painter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, his old western movies, and the old Hank Williams music.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Richards) Stevens of Dexter; a son, John Stevens Jr. and his wife, April, of Dexter; three daughters, Phyllis Lambert and her husband, Richard, of Saco, Marlene Spinney and her companion, Mike Celistno, of Charleston, and Crystal Stevens of Bangor; grandchildren, Stephen Colbath and his wife, Julie, Sam Spinney and his wife, Lynnette, Nichole Spinney, Kevin Stevens and his wife, Angela, Kollen Spinney and his wife, Ashley, Miranda Spinney, Misty Spinney and Kimothy “K2” Spinney; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cristie Rynes of Newport, and Edna Flannery of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Conway; and a sister, Mary Murray.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Corinthian Cemetery in Corinth, with Pastor Lyman Curtis Jr. officiating.
