ST. ALBANS – LeRoy A. Cassidy, 78, died Aug. 9, 2013, at his St. Albans home, following a long illness. He was born March 25, 1935, in Rockland, son of Albert L. and Florence W. (Ames) Cassidy. He was educated in schools of Rockland. Leroy married Annie Bray Aug. 27, 1954, in Deer Isle.
LeRoy was employed as a wood scaler at Maine Fence Co., Pittsfield for 25 years.
He loved the outdoors especially while Mackerel fishing, hunting, and cutting wood. For many years he was an avid C-B Radio operator know by his handle of “road runner.”
LeRoy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Annie L. Cassidy of St. Albans; one son, Allan R. Cassidy and his fiancée, Belinda, of St. Albans; three daughters, Anna Maria Cassidy and her fiancé, Vern, of St. Albans, Renee L. Cassidy of Chelsea, and Melissa A. Jackwin and Al of St. Albans; one brother and his wife, Donald and Lorraine Cassidy of Brunswick; one sister and her husband, Dolly and George McLain of Thomaston; three grandchildren, Jessica and Corey Robbins, Ross Cassidy and fiancée, Samantha Gilbert, and Miranda Jackwin; four great-grandchildren, Elliot Michael McQuarrie, Kylee Plummer, P.J. Plummer Jr., and Isaac Rewa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael Cassidy; and brothers, Richard and John. He will be fondly be remembered by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 14, at Village Cemetery, St. Albans, with the Rev. Michael Robbins officiating.
