PORTLAND – Patricia Ann Richardson passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center on July 31, 2013, at the age of 78.
Pat was born on Dec. 29, 1934, in Washington, D.C., to her loving parents Levi St. Peter of Orono and Vina Granville of Springfield. She was a devoted mother who, with her husband, John Richardson Sr., raised three sons in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C. She was employed in her 20s as a secretary to the President of Catholic University and then worked part-time for more than 25 years for the Registrar at the University of Maryland University College.
She is survived by her husband, John; sons, John Jr. and his wife, Dr. Stephanie Grohs, of Brunswick, Mark and his wife, Patricia, of Hookstown, Pa., and Brian and his wife, Kim, of Radnor, Pa.; and seven loving grandchildren, John, Glenn, Madeline, Mark, Emily, Julia and Jordan, all of whom affectionately called her “Nana.”
Visiting hours will be held between 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick, and at 11 a.m. on Aug. 20, there will be a Catholic grave side burial service at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. As Nana would have wanted it, we ask that in lieu of flowers, charitable contributions should be sent in her name to Springfield Congregational Church, P.O. Box 7, Springfield, ME 04487, in order to assist the church with its winter’s heating costs. For those unable to attend, condolences to the family may be expressed at www.brackettfuneralhome.com.
