WELLS, Maine — A 33-year-old Wells man was arrested Thursday after police say they discovered illegal drugs, including heroin, in his vehicle during a traffic stop in the York County town where he resides.
According to a Friday announcement by Wells police Sgt. Gerald Congdon, Justin Tully was pulled over initially for speeding on Merriland Ridge Road at approximately 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Congdon wrote that “a subsequent investigation determined he was impaired,” and Tully was arrested on charges of operating under the influence.
Police then conducted a full search of the vehicle, according to Congdon, and discovered 0.8 grams of heroin, 44 grams of hashish, 60 diazepam pills, 40 pills of lorazepam, 11 hypodermic needles “and a collection of drug paraphernalia.”
Congdon wrote that Tully was charged with Class C possession of a Schedule W drug for the heroin, and that police will seek indictment on other charges.
Tully was taken to York County Jail, where bail was set at $1,000, Congdon said.
