WILTON, Maine — Clocked at a speed of 111 mph in a 40 mph zone, a Lyman man was arrested by police on a charge of criminal speeding Sunday.
Jeremy Doucette, 38, was traveling west on Routes 2 and 4, also known as Burgess Hill, at about 8:39 a.m. Sunday when Wilton Officer Ryan Richardson spotted the speeding vehicle before it turned on to Route 4, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Monday.
Nearing the Wilton-Jay town line, Doucette traveled into Jay before stopping his vehicle for the officer, she said.
Doucette told police he was trying to catch up to his wife.
He was taken to Franklin County Detention Center and released later Sunday on $300 cash bail. He is expected to appear in Franklin County Unified Criminal court on Oct. 16.
