LIMESTONE and HAMLIN – Omer N. Jean, 89, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at his home with his family at his side. He was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Fall River, Mass., son of the late Omer and Angelina (Pelletier) Jean.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He worked with the City of Fall River, Mass., for many years as a water serviceman, and relocated to Hamlin in 1989.
Omer is survived by four sons, Robert and his wife, Nora, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Anthony and his wife, Brenda, of Hamlin, Christopher and his wife, Danielle, of Limestone, and Patrick and his wife, Lynn, of St. Andre, N.B., Canada; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn (Santana) Jean in 2000; a son, Richard Jean in 1965; and his brother, Clement Jean in 2002.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin. Family and friends may greet the family 9-10:15 a.m. Friday, at Lajoie Funeral Home, formerly Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
