BANGOR, Maine — A man police were seeking to arrest on an undisclosed warrant is now facing a felony charge after a synthetic drug was found on him.
Jay Fader, a 24-year old Bangor transient, is accused of unlawful possession of a synthetic hallucinogenic drug, a Class C felony, Bangor police Lt. Paul Edwards said.
Officers Brian Smith and Joe Baillageron had been working undercover on Aug. 22 around 6 p.m. and recognized Fader walking, Edwards said.
A check of Fader revealed he had a warrant, and the two officers radioed for uniformed backup, the lieutenant said.
After Fader was searched, a plastic baggie with an unknown substance in it was found on him, the lieutenant said, and once Fader arrived at Penobscot County Jail, the substance tested positive for methlyone, a synthetic drug.
Fader remains at the jail.
