BUCKSPORT – Charles E. Harvey, 82, of Bucksport, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at Maine Veterans Home in Bangor, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Bucksport, June 23, 1931, the son of Clifton A. and Julia A. (Knights) Harvey.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Charles was very proud of his service. He worked for and retired from the paper mill in Bucksport after 40 plus years of service. Charles enjoyed times hunting, fishing, gardening, he also took great pride in his wood working skills and wood carving.
Charles is survived by his children, Elaine Boober, Dennis Harvey and wife, Bridgette, all of Bucksport, Julie Rainey-Johnson and husband, Chris Johnson, of Virginia, Laura Nason-Moulton and husband, Gary Moulton, and Allen Harvey and wife, Amber, all of Orland; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his special companion, Patsy Woods of Bucksport and his faithful canine companion, Clyde. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his wife, Leatha (Tilton) Harvey.
Family and friends will gather for visitation until the time of service from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Power Line Road, Bucksport following the service. The family wishes to thank the staff of Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, for their loving and compassionate care of Charles while he was a resident.
