BANGOR, Maine — A man with a lengthy arrest record was nabbed by police on Saturday after trying to steal a bottle of alcohol from a supermarket.

Edward Myshrall, a 54-year-old transient, is facing a charge of felony theft due to prior convictions, according to Bangor police Lt. Paul Edwards.

On Saturday afternoon, Myshrall attempted to leave Shaw’s without paying for a bottle of Captain Morgan liquor, according to Edwards.

The lieutenant said Myshrall was cooperative when confronted by store loss prevention staff, and he was arrested by police without incident.

According to archives printed in the Bangor Daily News, Myshrall was arrested in the fall of 2011 and charged with aggravated assault in a knife attack on an apartment maintenance man.

The archives state Myshrall’s most recent theft arrest occurred in December 2011, when he allegedly stole a wood splitter from Home Depot.
