WINTERPORT – David B. Van Allen, 56, passed away Sept. 11, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 11, 1957, in Paris, France, the son of Henry L. and Maxine (Jellison) Van Allen.
David graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1975, and then entered the U.S. Army. Since 1990 he had made his home in Winterport where he was a firefighter and assistant fire chief and EMT for the Winterport Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.
David is survived by his beloved family; his wife of 23 years, Kathy (Elwell) Van Allen; daughters, Kimberly Foley and Danielle Van Allen; four loving grandchildren, Tiana, Alexis, Dominick and Ronan; brother, Roger Van Allen and family; sister, Connie Fleming and family; brother, Jerry Van Allen; half sister, Cheryl Moran; and a loving extended family. He is also survived by dear friends, Stan and Lee Bowden and Susan Van Allen. David was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Kevin and Donnie Van Allen.
A service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, with Pastor Judy Ahles, pastor of the Frankfort Congregational Church officiating.
