WATERVILLE, Maine — Michelle Greene scored two goals to propel Thomas to a season-opening 3-0 victory over Johnson & Wales Friday.
The Terriers managed to get out to a 1-0 lead after a goal by Greene just inside of the circle at the 7:50 marker. Greene scored again at 24:54. Thomas outshot the Wildcats 15-2 in the first half and held a 10-1 penalty corner margin.
Erica Blake added a second-half goal for Thomas off an assist by Lauren Hachey.
Sofia Sourgiadakis made two saves for Thomas and Jaclyn made 12 for Johnson & Wales.

At Nashua, N.H., the Thomas College women’s soccer team scored four goals in each half en route to the victory.
Kasja Kaufeldt led the Terrier (2-3) with a pair of first-half scores while Kristi Hilton, Elizabeth Goodall, Elizabeth McPhillips, Haylee Cote, and Kristina Emmons notched a goal apiece.
Kerry Hager made six saves for Daniel Webster while Kate Thibodeau made one stop for Thomas.
VCU 2, Maine 0
At Richmond, Va., Courtney Conrad’s goal off a pass from Jessie Krasko at 47:29 in the second half lifted Virginia Commonwealth by Maine in a tourney.
VCU added to its lead just over a minute later. Sharon Wojcik and Abbey Ritter teamed up to find Jackie Ernest who found the back of the net with her shot at 48:41. It’s the first game Maine has allowed more than one goal this season as the Bears slipped to 3-2-1.
Maine goalkeeper Lauren Swant made one save and Emma Kruse made two for 3-4 VCU.
