WASHBURN – Earl Harvey Cheviot, 76, passed from this life and into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Sept. 18, 2013, after a courageous 11 year battle with cancer. Earl was born May 21, 1937, in Woodland, the son of Floyd and Marcella (Smith) Cheviot.
He attended Woodland School back in “the day” of the one room country schools. He loved reminiscing about those childhood years.
Earl and his dad farmed on the Langley Road in Woodland. He was “at his best” when he was working in the fields. His last request was to get out to a field being harvested so he could “smell the dirt.”
But the greatest joy of Earl’s life was his family. He was married to Anita (Sperrey) Boyce Cheviot. They have one daughter, Marcella Mae, who was the pride and joy of her daddy’s life. Earl also loved his stepson and daughter-in-law, Rob and Jennifer Boyce of Presque Isle. He was a gentle, loving “Pa” to Katlyn, Calleena, and Alexander Boyce. He also leaves behind a loving 93-year-old mother-in-law, Dorothy Sperrey. He will be greatly missed by his niece, Eileen Cyr of Caribou; his nephew, Timothy Cheviot of Hancock, N.H.; and his nephew, James Cheviot of Caribou. He will also be sadly missed by two very special “adopted” sons, Nick Silver and Andrew McLaughlin, who have spent countless hours in the Cheviot home.
Earl was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Marcella Cheviot; a brother, Lee Cheviot; and a father-in-law, Atwood Sperrey.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to pastors, friends and family members who have been so kind and offered so much love and support during this difficult time.
Friends may call 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Christian Life Assembly, Chandler Road, Presque Isle, where a celebration of Earl’s life will be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Dan Holmes officiating. Interment will follow the service at Riverside Extension Cemetery, Washburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Earl’s memory to Earl Cheviot Memorial Fund, Attention: Anita Cheviot, 843 Washburn Road, Washburn, ME 04786.
