FORT KENT – Alfred “Ted” Sirois, 86, died peacefully surrounded by family, Sept. 29, 2013, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born June 26, 1927, in St. Francois, N.B., Canada, the son of Raoul and Laura (Pelletier) Sirois.
Ted was a heavy equipment operator for Pinkham Lumber from 1956 until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Fourth degree Council No. 0352, Fort Kent. A few of his favorite pass times was playing cards, dancing, and he loved to be surrounded by his family. He also volunteered much of his time at the Senior Citizen Center in Fort Kent of which he was a member. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Irene (Paradis) (Beaulieu) Sirois of Fort Kent; three sons, Carl Sirois of Rhode Island, Bob and wife, Gail Sirois, of Fort Kent, and Henry Sirois of Portland; three daughters, Linda and husband, Bob Raymond, of Fort Kent, Patsy and husband, Peter Cannan, of Plaisted, and Nancy Sirois of Portland; one brother, Yvon Sirois of Meridan, Conn.; two sisters, Yvette Bouchard of St. Francois, N.B., Canada, and Claudette and her husband, Boyd Maillette, of Camelton, N.B., Canada; 16 grandchildren, Mitchell, Roxanne, Russell, Amy, Kelly, Jared, Angie, Robin, Sara, Ally, Cameran, Gabriella, Jason, Kim, Heather, and Tracy; 14 great-grandchildren, Sierra, Bryce, Riley, Griffin, Andre, Elly, Tobias, Michela, Abe, Sadie, Emma, Ryan, Leo, and Beatrice; five stepgrandchildren, Michael Beaulieu of St. John, James Beaulieu of Scottsdale, Ariz., Judy Idicek of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Linda Beaulieu and Norma Bolstrige, both of Hermon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia (Landry) Sirois in 1997; one brother, Norman “Blackie” Sirois; and one sister, Laurette Nadeau both in 1985; and one grandson, Scott Sirois.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, and 8-9:45 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated with full Fourth Degree Honors, 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to Fort Kent Public Library, 1 Monument Square; or Senior Citizen Center, P.O. Box 403; or to Ecumenical Food Pantry, all of Fort Kent, ME 04743.
