LINCOLN – Virginia Ann (Vose) Scott, 83, passed away Oct. 1, 2013, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Bangor, the daughter of Alfred E. Vose Sr. and stepdaughter of Ella Vose.
Virginia was employed as a long distance night operator at a local telephone company after graduating from Houlton High School. She moved to Cape Cod in 1951, where she was supervisor of Proof Department, Barnstable County Bank in Hyannis. She then joined Merchants Bank and Trust, later called Fleet Bank and now, Bank of Boston. Virginia retired in 1983 as Assistant Vice President of Operations, after 24 years of banking.
She is lovingly remembered by two sons, Terrance and his wife, Joyce, of Lakeville, and Garey and his wife, Linda, of Waltham, Mass.; a daughter, Susan Smart and her life partner, Keith Strother, of Lincoln; grandchildren, Christopher Plummer and his wife, Jana, of Bangor, Kerri Tardif of Enfield, Katie Clee and her husband, Mike, of Farmington, N.H., Danny Scott and his wife, Amanda, of Plymouth, Mass., and Nathan Scott of Mashpee, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Haley Lynn and Brandon Giles Tardif, Kylie Ann and Mykenzie Rae Plummer, Taylor and Isabelle Della Carol Scott, Leila Katie and Gavin Christopher Scott, and Zoe Autumn Clee; a brother, James Vose of Lincoln; special cousin, Harley Sproul; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Ellery Scott; and by two brothers, Alfred E. Vose Jr., and Robert W. Vose. “Remember when you have me on your mind, I’m in your footsteps, only half a step behind. And when it’s your turn to leave that body and be free, you’re really coming here to be with me.”
