ROCKLAND – Mary Catherine Campbell, 66, passed away Oct. 1, 2013, quietly in her home on Birch Street in Rockland. Born in Bangor, she was the daughter of Hugh and Frances Whilamena Cota Campbell.
Mary was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Schenectady, N.Y., and the State University in New York. Following a career with New York State in various positions, including head chef in the Governors Mansion in Albany, she selflessly returned to Maine to provide care for her aging parents. An accomplished sales and marketing professional for several years, Mary translated her skills as an employment specialist for Maine Medical Center of Portland until retiring in August. She was a tireless worker, an enthusiastic volunteer, and truly the best friend one could have ever had.
Mary is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Anne and Raymond McGeechan of Hampden; brother and sister-in-law, John and Marcia Campbell of Fleming Island, Fla.; beloved friends, Lizzette and Kevin Walker of Providence, R.I.; as well as nieces and nephews, Beth Thieme, John and Joe McGeechan, Kyle Campbell and Sarah Schuette.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life to be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the McGeechan family home located at 29 Elm Street West, Hampden. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any donations be made in her honor to the charity of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
