OLD TOWN – Raymond Joseph White passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at a Bangor nursing facility following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Orono, to Peter J. and Isabelle (Therriault) White.
Ray attended Orono schools before serving in the Medical Corp of the Army during World War II. He worked at Old Town Canoe, and later retired from construction. Ray was a wonderful dancer and he and his wife, Ernestine, belonged to the “Saturday Nighters” for many years. Ray enjoyed traveling and quizzing the grandchildren on geography.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Ernestine; brothers, Ronald and his wife, MaryEllen, of Bradley, and Roger of Franklin; a sister, Marion Zepperi and her husband, Richard, of Groton, Conn.; and sister-in-law, Phyllis White of Peabody, Mass. He is also survived by stepchildren, Ginny Albert and Jack of Arlington, Va., Nancy Bradeen and Shirley of Milford, Kathy Ouellette and Michael of Old Town, Peter Fournier and Danielle of Hudson, N.H., and Terri Keane and Gary of Dover-Foxcroft; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Robert and Ralph; and his sister, Carol.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Holy Family Parish, Old Town. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Parish food pantry. Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Birmingham Funeral Home.
