SPRINGFIELD – LAWRENCE ROGER HAM
Springfield – Lawrence Roger Ham, 77, husband of Joan (Kneeland) Ham, died November 1, 2013, at his home. He was born January 24, 1936, in Springfield, the son of Austin and Gertrude (Orr) Ham.
Lawrence loved working in the woods, his garden, his pickles, fishing, traveling with his wife and sister-in-law, Jean, following his children and grandchildren with their sports, and of course, his most important thing in life was his family. Lawrence worked at Great Northern Paper Co. for 33 years and contracted a mail route with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. He was also known for his dry sense of humor.
In addition to being married to his loving wife of 56 years, Joan, he is survived by four sons, Larry and Annette Ham, David and Cheryl Ham, Daniel and Stephanie Ham and Kenneth Ham and Renee Deschesne; six siblings, Harold “Buckshot” Ham, Dorothy Comer, Linda Doane and Ron, Joyce Tozier and Jean Sawtelle and Hazen; nine grandchildren, Torrey Ham, Deidra McIntosh, Andrew Ham, Adam Ham, Darren Ham, Eric Ham, Tyler Ham, Shawn Perley and Amanda Peters; he also leaves behind two very special sisters-in-law, Jean States and Helen Dwelley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six siblings, Blanche White, Marjorie Budge, Catherine Granville, Norman Ham, Ruth Gibbs and Keith Ham; step-father, Sid Damon and step-mother, Sis Damon; two special nephews, Harvey and Jay Birtz.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, November 7, at Village Cemetery, Springfield, with the Rev. Alice Lester officiating.
