HARMONY – Richard E. Carr, 86, beloved husband of Louise (Deering) Carr, died October 31, 2013, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born February 27, 1927, in Hill, NH, the son of Winfield S. and Dorothy (Smith) Carr.
A U.S. Army veteran, Richard was the Postmaster in Harmony for 27 years. He was active in town government, serving the Town of Harmony as a selectman, as a member of the planning board, and on the Parks and Recreation committee. He had been a member of the VFW Post No. 6924 in Fairfield, and the Harmony Patriots Club for many years.
He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Louise, of Harmony; three sons, Richard A. Carr, Gerry L. Carr and David W. Carr and his wife, Brenda, all of Harmony; two brothers, Gordon Carr and his wife, Janice, and Vernon Carr and his wife, Dorrine, all of Harmony; two sisters, Dorothy Barrows of Portland, and Barbara Herrick of Guilford; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Carr of Hartland; three grandchildren, Tasha Contreras of Harmony, Justin Carr of Harmony, and Trevor Turner and his wife, Carissa, of Palmyra; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Britany, Noah, Brayden, and Landon. He was predeceased by a sister, Sharon Bunker, and a brother, Dana Carr.
