BANGOR – Katharine L. Leonard, 92, wife of the late Leo F. Leonard, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at a Bangor health center. She was born June 18, 1921, in South Brewer, the daughter of James and Georgianna (Stone) Welch.
Katharine was a 1938 graduate of Brewer High School and attended Beal College. She worked for Liggets Drugstore, East Hartford, Conn., the Eastern Corp., Brewer, and also for Freeses’s Dept. Store.
Surviving are one daughter, Larraine Leonard of Bangor; one sister, Joanne Goodson of West Virginia; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years; two sisters, Mary Wolsieffer, and Barbara Brooks; and two brothers, Richard Welch, and James Welch Jr. Katharine’s family gratefully thanks the staff of Westgate Manor for the care and kindness.
A service honoring Katharine’s life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where family and friends may visit 10 a.m. until the service begins. Burial will be afterward at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Westgate Manor Activities Fund, 750 Union St., Bangor.
