ST. AGATHA – Sister Annette Picard, 97, died peacefully Nov. 2, 2013, at a Frenchville health center. She was born May 1, 1916, in Grand Isle, the daughter of Vital and Delia (Picard) Picard.
She made profession on Feb. 2, 1935, in Ottawa, Canada. (Sr. Lucille du Rosaire) A Daughter of Wisdom for 78 years her ministry was permeated by the Wisdom she professed. Her ministry was one of community service. She was an accomplished seamstress and she adapted readily to the people and the needs around her. She served in Ottawa, Canada, Brooklyn and Long Island, N.Y., Portsmouth, Virginia and St. Agatha. She always remembered fondly taking care of the babies as a certified Nurses Aid in St. Charles Hospital. Retiring in September 1990 she returned to St. Agatha and was at the service of the Church and the St Agatha community. Her hobby was reading and doing needlepoint. Sister Annette was always gracious and grateful for whatever service others rendered her.
She is survived by three sisters, Connie Lachance of Frenchville, Gloria Lajoie of Baker Brook, NB, Canada, and Jackie Orme Elk of Rapids, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Lionel Lajoie in Lac Baker, NB, Canada; and several nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her Sisters in community, The Daughters of Wisdom. She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Lionel, Conrad, Roland, and Leo James; and nine sisters, Irene Eldridge, Germaine Buckner, Simone Benette, Fernande Hebert, Rachel Stevens, Gilberte Picard, Louise Perry, Cecile Clavette, and Sister Lucille Picard D.W.
Friends and relatives may call 8:30-9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at St. Agatha Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jim Plourde and the Rev. Kent Ouellette officiating. Burial will be at Daughter of Wisdom Cemetery. For those who desire, donations may be made in her memory to Long Lake Public Library.
